SUBJECT: Introducing a new career awareness system
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of the ongoing partnership with the Alabama State Department of Education, [SCHOOL NAME] continues to provide education and career planning tools for students in grades PreK-5 through Kuder Galaxy® (Galaxy). The comprehensive, online resources within Galaxy have consistently supported students in exploring, planning for, and achieving career success throughout their education.
Your child(ren) have ongoing access to Galaxy, an interactive, space-themed platform that makes career exploration engaging and fun. Mascots guide students through grade-specific content and drive them to explore various careers through videos, games, and activities.
Rooted in career development theory and designed with grade-specific themes, Galaxy allows students to explore six planets that represent different work environments: Realistic (the doers), Investigative (the thinkers), Artistic (the creators), Social (the helpers), Enterprising (the persuaders), and Conventional (the organizers). The platform introduces students to over 120 careers, helping them see beyond their local environment and broaden their future possibilities.
As your child continues to explore career options, Galaxy helps expand their vocabulary, broadens their understanding of potential careers, and connects what they are learning in school to real-world professions. The platform encourages students to reflect on their interests, build self-awareness, and engage with developmentally-appropriate activities that support their career readiness.
To support you in this process, Galaxy provides a Parent Guide, which is available online. The guide offers grade-specific career awareness goals, student learning objectives, descriptions of activities, and tips on how to discuss career exploration with your child. It also includes suggestions for offline activities that can help further build career awareness. You can access the Parent Guide here: https://galaxy.kuder.com/parents.
We encourage you to continue using Galaxy at home to help your child explore their career interests and expand their horizons. If you have any questions or need more information about your child’s use of Galaxy, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to supporting you and your child throughout this exciting process.
Warm regards,
