What are "I" Statements?

An “I” statement is an objective or goal positioned from a student's perspective. Within each grade, there are default “I” statements that are developmentally appropriate for that grade.

How are "I" Statements used?

When a student is in Galaxy, they can check off each statement, enter notes and upload resources that demonstrate they’ve achieved that goal. Administrators will be able to track progress on each student's “I” statements.

Customizing Galaxy "I" Statements

Important Note: When you add your own set of statements, the default list will disappear unless you save default "I" statements by copying them before adding your own.

  1. Navigate to your Galaxy administrator account and click on the “I” Statement tab.

  2. Click on Copy Kuder “I” Statements if you intend to keep the default “I” statements in addition to adding your own.

  3. Click on Add “I” Statement to add our own statements.

    1. From this page select which grade the “I” statement is for, a culture, and that culture’s translation of the statement. Be sure to provide a translation of all cultures before saving. If you don’t know the translation for a certain culture, we suggest taking your original “I” statement and copying and pasting it into the field as a placeholder.

    2. Once you’ve completed all the fields, click Save.

  4. Click on the Back button to keep adding “I” Statements and repeat the process.

  5. Click on the edit or delete icon to the right of each “I” statement to edit or delete.
