Why is creating opportunities important to my business?

Creating opportunities is essential to getting your business connected with local, eager students ready for work-based learning opportunities. By inputting opportunities available at your business, you’re helping bridge education and economic development to build your talent pipeline.

How do I get more attention on my opportunities?

Opportunities with more details, and hands-on experiences are the most appealing to students and therefore are more likely to gain more applicants. We encourage you to list all relevant opportunities you may have for students.


How to Create Opportunities in C2B

Opportunities can be submitted once you have created a Business Profile by following these steps:

  1. On the home screen, scroll down to Manage Opportunities

  2. Select Create an Opportunity.

  3. Input opportunity Basic Information

    1. Opportunity Name

    2. Opportunity Type

      1. Job Shadow

        1. Involves partnering with an industry professional to observe and partake in their daily or weekly responsibilities. This opportunity allows students to picture themselves in the career and evaluate whether it aligns with their interests, skills, and work values.

      2. Internship

        1. A temporary position prioritizing on-the-job training. This allows individuals to gain skills and experience aligned to their career interests. Interns are often expected to actively partake in workplace duties related to specific career-related tasks.

      3. Career Mentorship

        1. An experienced professional provides an individual with tailored guidance aligned to their desired position or career.

      4. Project Based Learning

        1. A course of study or experience involving practical field training, under supervision. This typically applies to a specific field or program of study.

      5. Virtual Experience

        1. An immersive program to allow individuals to perform industry tasks within a controlled environment. Commonly used for automotive and construction programs.

      6. Service Learning

        1. Integrates community service with classroom instruction and reflection for a specific project.

      7. School Based Enterprise

        1. Based within a school, a group of students produce goods or services to be donated or put for sale.

      8. Volunteering

        1. This unpaid experience involves contributing time and talents to benefit a cause or individual.

      9. Externship

        1. A structured approach to combining classroom concepts with hands-on work experience, often in the form of a class project for a local business.

      10. Paid Work Experience (Employment FT & Employment PT)

        1. Individuals can gain on-the-job training and growth through a part-time or full-time job.

      11. Workplace Tours/Field Trip

        1. A group trip to observe first-hand what a specific workplace and career may consist of while actively engaging with industry professionals.

      12. Mock Interview

        1. An informal interview or conversation between an industry professional and an individual seeking information related to entering or advancing in that career.

      13. Apprenticeship

        1. A program in which an individual learns an art, trade, or job under the supervision of a more experienced mentor.

      14. Career Fair

        1. An event in which industry professionals interact with individuals seeking to learn more about a given profession. Can include engaging activities, Q&A sessions, and skill-building workshops.

      15. Guest Speaker

        1. A guest speaker can be someone invited to speak on their expertise and experience in a career field.

      16. Authentic Project

        1. A project that includes prototyping an invention to brainstorming ideas for a business, the projects are their own, and they have agency over the projects’ direction and decisions.

      17. Other

        1. Can be used for an opportunity that does not fit solely within the descriptions of the other types of work-based learning.

    3. Opportunity Description

      1. A detailed account of what the experience entails along with any other important information about the opportunity.

    4. Application Instructions

      1. Instructions or requirements for the opportunity to assist educators in matching and selecting the best student candidates.

  4. Select Continue.

  5. Input Opportunity Details

    1. Opportunity Primary Contact

      1. Contact First Name

  6. Select Related Occupations

    1. Type in key words and select up to 3 related occupations

  7. Submit your opportunity by selecting Create Opportunity.

Note: Submitted opportunities will be reviewed and published by a school administrator prior to being shown to students.

You can manage your opportunities at any time by navigating to the people icon in the left-hand menu and utilizing the edit feature to ensure all opportunities stay up to date.
