How to Approve and Deny Student Participation Requests

After a student requests to participate in a work-based learning opportunity a WBL Advisor must approve or deny the request.

  1. In the left-hand navigation menu, select Manage Work Based Learning Tools

  2. Select Student Requests

  3. Search for student or filter by the Requested status to see all initial requests

  4. Select Manage in the far-right column of the student request

  5. Review opportunity and student details to determine suitability

  6. Select Approve Initial Request or Deny Initial Request

  7. Add a note to provide more information to the student on the opportunity or decision

  8. Select Approve Initial Request or Deny Initial Request

Note: Once a request has been approved, it can be denied by following steps 1-6 and then selecting Deny Request. Once an opportunity has been denied it can no longer be changed to approved.

How to Schedule an Approved Opportunity

After a student's request has been approved, the WBL Advisor must schedule the opportunity before the student can begin completing required activities. This allows for the WBL Advisor to control when the required activities are available to the student to be completed. This further allows future opportunities to be scheduled in advance, for example the next school year, to allow for planning.

  1. In the left-hand navigation menu, select Manage Work Based Learning Tools

  2. Select Student Requests

  3. Search for student or filter by the Approved status

  4. Select Manage in the far-right column of the student request

  5. Select Enter Scheduling Info

  6. Fill out required fields

    1. Opportunity Start Date

    2. Opportunity End Date

    3. Scheduling Details

  7. Select Submit

How to Mark a Submitted Opportunity as Complete

Once a student completes all required activities and submits the opportunity for final approval the WBL Advisor can mark the opportunity as complete or send the opportunity back to the student to fix mistakes or add any missing information.

  1. In the left-hand navigation menu, select Manage Work Based Learning Tools

  2. Select Student Requests

  3. Search for student or filter by the Submitted status

  4. Select Manage in the far-right column of the student request

  5. Review the activity requirements by selecting the Requirements tab

  6. Download documents attached to activities to review completeness

  7. Select Mark Complete or Reassign to student

    1. If choosing to reassign, add notes to the student for what is wrong or missing

    2. Select Reassign to student
