Educators: How to Use Common App Profile and Forms

Learn how counselors and teachers can use Common App in Kuder Navigator for Admins.

Updated over a week ago

What is Common App?

An integration is available for Kuder Navigator® with the third-party, Common App, to allow students and educators to seamlessly manage the college application process.

The Common Application (Common App) is an undergraduate college admission application that allows students to apply to multiple colleges and universities with a single form. Accepted by over 900 institutions, it includes sections for personal info, academic history, test scores, extracurricular activities, and a personal essay. Some schools may require additional materials. Common App provides resources like fee waivers for financial need, a mobile app, and a college search tool, simplifying and streamlining the college application process.

There are schools that do not accept Common App and might require students to apply directly.

How to Select a Common App User Role

Educators must login to Kuder Navigator for Admins to be available for students to select as their Common App counselor and or teacher. After logging in, the Common App user role is automatically set as Teacher, and must be updated if a counselor role is needed.

Important Note: A student cannot select an educator as their counselor unless the user has updated their user role to Counselor or Teacher & Counselor.

  1. Select College Planning on the left-hand menu

  2. Select Common App Profile and Forms from the drop-down

  3. Set your role in Common App:

    1. Teacher (Default) - Available only to students as a Teacher recommender

    2. Counselor - Available only to students as a Counselor

    3. Teacher & Counselor - Available to students as both a Teacher recommender and Counselor

A student must select you as a Teacher or Counselor before you can complete your profile.
