Students: How to Use Direct Application Document Requests

Parchment allows students to request admins send a recommendation, school report, fee waiver or transcript to universities.

What is Parchment?

An integration available for Kuder Navigator® with the third-party, Parchment, that allows students to request transcript and recommendations be sent to selected universities, and track progress of applications. Parchment is used most often for schools that do not accept Common App for college applications.

What document types can be sent through Parchment?

The following document types can be requested by students to be sent to institutions:

  • Transcript

    • Initial Transcript & Mid-Year Transcript

  • Transcript - Final

  • Transfer Transcript

    • Used to transfer college credit to institutions.

  • Letter of Recommendation

  • Letter of Recommendation - Counselor

  • Letter of Recommendation - Teacher

  • Fee Waiver

    • A fee waiver allows students who qualify to apply to a college without paying an application fee.

  • Secondary School Report

    • The secondary school report is a comprehensive evaluation of the high school that provides colleges with context about the institution the student is coming from.


How to Make a Direct Application Document Requests

There are two ways to navigate to the transcript request page in the student experience. The student can select to request a transcript from the information page on the school or from the transcript request page.

Making a Request from the School Page

  1. Log in to Kuder Navigator

  2. Select Plan for Education from the Left-Hand menu

  3. Select Find Schools from the dropdown

  4. Search for the school in which you would like to apply

  5. Select the name of the school

  6. Select Send My Transcripts found below the school name

  7. Select Add a Transcript Request

  8. Search for the name of the school and select the name

  9. Select the application type

    1. Transcript

    2. Transcript - Final

    3. Transfer Transcript

    4. Letter of Recommendation

    5. Letter of Recommendation - Counselor

    6. Letter of Recommendation - Teacher

    7. Fee Waiver

    8. Secondary School Report

  10. Select Send Request

  11. A new row will appear in the transcript request table letting you know it has been sent successfully

Note: After requesting transcripts and/or letters of recommendation, add the school to your Direct Application list to help with status tracking.

Making a Request from the Student Portfolio

  1. Log in to Kuder Navigator

  2. Select Plan for Education from the Left-Hand menu

  3. Select Direct Application Document Requests from the dropdown

  4. Select Add a Document Request

  5. Search for the name of the school and select the name

  6. Select the application type

    1. Transcript

    2. Transcript - Final

    3. Transfer Transcript

    4. Letter of Recommendation

    5. Letter of Recommendation - Counselor

    6. Letter of Recommendation - Teacher

    7. Fee Waiver

    8. Secondary School Report

  7. Select Send Request

  8. A new row will appear in the transcript request table letting you know it has been sent successfully

Note: After requesting transcripts and/or letters of recommendation, add the school to your Direct Application list to help with status tracking.


How to Check the Status of a Document Request

  1. Log in to Kuder Navigator

  2. Select Plan for Education from the Left-Hand menu

  3. Select Direct Application Document Requests from the dropdown

  4. In the Document Request table view the Status column for each request

    1. Pending: Waiting on Admin to Send the Request

    2. Sent: Transcript Request Sent to Parchment

    3. Rejected: School Admin Rejected Request

    4. Processed: Parchment Accepted & Started Processing the Request

    5. Denied: Parchment Denied the Request

    6. Delivered: Transcript Delivered to School

Note: After your transcript and/or letter of recommendation has been sent, update your Direct Application to help with status tracking.
